Tragedy from Addiction Inspires Local Father to Give Back to Community with Special Event June 11th
In the face of the South Jersey heroin and drug addiction epidemic, this benefit, being held in honor of the late Voorhees student Justin Wolfe, will support addiction awareness, support, and education.
Gregg Wolfe is the father of Voorhees student Justin Wolfe, who died of a heroin overdose in December 2012 will be hosting an event to raise funds for the JFCS Right in Our Backyard program. This event, to be held on June 11, is a special tribute in honor of Justin’s birthday. The program is presented to youths in Southern New Jersey to develop increased awareness in the community, prevent addiction, and stop addiction-related deaths. This program recently won a Goodman Award from the AJFCA (see attached photo). Through the panel presentation, the program for teens and their parents covers symptoms and effects of addiction, ways to seek help, tools to get out of an uncomfortable situation, disposal methods of prescription narcotics, and how to begin the discussion if they or someone they know is suspected of taking drugs. The panel consists of local law enforcement, parents who have lost children to addiction, and counselors. The program is being expanded further into Camden County schools in the coming months.
